David T Hina's Sweetheart Cookies

Ingredients [metric]

• 3/4 c shortening
• 1/2 c sugar
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 1/2 c flour
• currant jelly
• fine sugar

Directions

Cream shortening, and gradually add sugar and egg yolk

Add flour and knead.

Chill dough for several hours.

Form tiny balls with the dough and place on a greased baking sheet.

Make a depression in the center of each ball.

Fill the hollow (sparingly) with jelly.

Bake at 350 degrees F until very light brown (approx 12 min).

When cool, roll in fine sugar.
