This is the original recipe; no directions. I read three other
cookbooks to get a general idea of what to do. I had no idea of the
yield and originally made three loaves (actually, I first wanted to
make two, but realized in time that was too much). This yields six
loaves.
Please note the lack of measurements for the fruit. Gran'ma's
first comment was, "Good, but needs more fruit." When you think it's
too much, it's enough.
Ingredients
4 lb flour
1 lb butter
1 quart milk
1/2 lb sugar
4 eggs
4 packets yeast
a little rum
citron and orange peel, cherries, nuts, almonds, lemon rind
