Grasshopper

This is not a cocktail; this is an alcoholic dessert, basically booze-laced melted mint chocolate chip ice cream. Why is it called a grasshopper? Probably for the green color of the creme de menthe, but I have no certain knowledge of this. I suspec the cocktail is the cause of every mid-70s mint-chocolate dessert being colored green and named "grasshopper."

  • 1 oz creme de menthe
  • 1 oz creme de cacao
  • 1 oz heavy cream

Shake with ice. Double strain into a coupe to clean out the mint shreds. Garnish with a mint sprig, dusting of cocoa, candy cane, or crushed candy canes.
