White Russian

This was the favorite drink of my elementary school best friend's father. By junior high, Donna was an accomplished bartender, at least as far as white Russians go.

This is a variation of two simpler cocktails: a richer black Russian (vodka and Kahlua) or a Kahlua and cream with kick.

• 1 1/2 oz vodka
• 1 oz Kahlua
• 1 oz heavy cream

In a rocks glass with ice, stir together the vodka and Kahlua. Pour the cream over the back of a spoon to float it. (Swirl to combine before drinking.)
