Cuba Libre

According to my mother, Esquire magazine, and a very old cocktail app on my phone, a Cuba Libre is a rum and coke with lime juice. (According to the cheap Drink Guide I bought in some random liquor store, it's just a rum and coke, but we are throwing out that recipe.)

I started drinking rum and cokes in college because they were easy to make and non-challenging. While spending a week with Mom in Florida, she made the classic version.

  • 1 1/2 oz rum
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • cola

Half fill a tall glass with ice. Pour in rum, lime juice, and coke. Stir with a straw.
