This is perhaps the easiest cookie I have ever made, requiring no special techniques, not even creaming butter (let alone beating whites until stiff and glossy). Anyone who can measure and use a mixer can make these cookies. Proof that a great cookie can use simple techniques and ingredients.
I am a Doctor Who geek, both old series and new series. I have a favorite Doctor (Pertwee) and three favorite companion (Liz Shore, Sarah Jane Smith and Turlough), but not a favorite villain, unlike some fans.
Not only do I drink box wine, but I've had box wine tastings. The conclusion of which was that the Pennsylvania liquor store system doesn't stock the same wines year round, and in the summer they only stock the truly awful ones. Living here is the reason for resorting to box wine: the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania runs the liquor stores, and is torn between making money and discouraging drinking. Both factions seem to agree on one result: prices are high. Or, as a California friend put it, "That's right! You don't have two-buck Chuck here!"
If you want just a glass of wine while cooking dinner, or a glass in the dinner or with dinner, but don't want to spend $20 or let $20 oxidize over three nights, box wine is the only choice. (Jug wine doesn't come on even to my radar.)
Two or three Australian wineries offer wines in boxes, and they are quite drinkable at 6 p.m. while spelunking the refrigerator for dinner ingredients. It's also quite drinkable as Glühwein, but that's no recommendation as Glühwein covers a multitude of sins.
